We are based in Tircoed Forest Village with our own studio accommodation, equipment and transmission system. Our community radio station is not only for Tircoed, but our primary transmission footprint covers Penllergaer, Gorseinon, Pontlliw, Pontardulais, Parc Penllergaer and the M4 corridor between J46 and J48. We are keen that all of these communities contribute to programming. We want to offer something different to the mainstream commercial stations and are looking for volunteers from all these areas. Our slogan is ‘Your Voice in the Community’ and that’s what we are. Perhaps you have an interest in local history, local news, charity fund raising, if you think you have the voice for radio then please contact us. All profits made by the station will be ploughed into the local community, so feel free to contact us.
History of Radio Tircoed
Radio Tircoed was first awarded a temporary license to broadcast to the local area in July 2005. Since then we had 3 successful RSL's (Restricted Service License) the last one being from 5th December 2006 to 2nd January 2007.
We applied for a Community Radio License and were successful in our bid to broadcast full time for the next 5 years. We went 'live' on 106.5FM on the 1st December 2008.
